Zhulin said that at demonstration performances, figure skaters skate half-drunk
Figure skating coach Alexander Zhulin said in an interview with the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!” about how athletes relax after major competitions.
Zhulin shared that on the day of the free program at the World Championships, the skaters were shopping for a “breakaway.” “The competition ends, and after the free program there is a simple breakaway. Why does everyone skate like pieces of shit at exhibitions? That’s where everyone performs half-drunk,” he explained.
Earlier, world figure skating champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva compared earnings from participating in competitions and in ice shows. She noted that she receives no less in the show than if she had successfully performed in tournaments.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. International tournaments in the two countries were also cancelled.
