Russian regions, in particular Ufa, are capable of hosting the World Ice Hockey Championship, President Vladimir Putin noted during a press conference, which is being broadcast on YouTube by TASS.
Answering the question of a journalist from Ufa whether it is possible to host the world championship in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Putin called the local Salavat Yulaev an excellent team, but added that at present he was not ready to answer the question of holding the world championship there.

Putin recalled that in 2023 the World Cup will be held in St. Petersburg. It is impossible to add Ufa to its holding, but the President stressed that the city is able to host international competitions of the highest level. “Let’s think about this proposal,” he promised.
The head of state also recalled that the issue of holding depends not only on the Russian authorities, but also on the International Ice Hockey Federation.
