Yurlova-Percht said that Finnish woman Mäkäräinen stopped responding to her messages
Russian biathlete Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht spoke about her communication with Finnish world champion Kaisa Mäkäräinen. She is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Yurlova-Perkht shared that she and Mäkäräinen trained together in Kontiolahti under the guidance of Anatoly Khovantsev. According to the Russian woman, she learned a lot from the Finnish woman, but now they do not communicate. “I myself am very interested in why Kaisa stopped responding to my messages,” Yurlova-Perkht said.
Yurlova-Perkht is the 2015 world champion in the individual race. She also won silver at the 2019 World Championships in the mass start. In April 2024, the 39-year-old athlete retired.
Russians and Belarusians do not participate in international competitions by decision of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The order came into force in March 2022 and will remain in effect until further notice.
