Promes may request rescheduling of first extradition hearing
Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes and his lawyers may request a postponement of the date of the first hearing on the player’s extradition to the Netherlands. Lawyer Igor Bushmanov told RIA Novosti about this.
The court hearing regarding the footballer’s extradition to the Netherlands is expected to take place on May 2. Due to the threat of heavy rain, the process may begin online rather than in person.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. The case was later closed. Two weeks later, the football player was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
