Coach Kravtsov called the accusations voiced by boxer Guruli a defensive reaction
The head of the coaching council of the Russian boxing team, Eduard Kravtsov, assessed the accusations voiced by Georgian Lasha Guruli about attempts to bribe him at the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. His words are quoted by “Championship”.
Kravtsov said that there are no bribes in amateur boxing. “Guruli had already lost before the fight. And this was a defensive reaction that is still going on,” he said.
Earlier on May 1, Guruli said that he was offered a large sum for refusing to fight with Russian Tarkhan Idigov at the European Championship. The athlete emphasized that they did not want him to enter the ring.
Guruli became a silver medalist, and Idigov became a European champion. During the Russian anthem, the Georgian athlete removed his award and then refused to be photographed with other medalists.
