Alexander Ovechkin said it is possible to break Wayne Gretzky’s record
Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin appreciated the opportunity to break Wayne Gretzky’s record for the most goals in the regular championships of the National Hockey League (NHL). Sport 24 reports this.
The forward noted that he has a long way to go. “But anything is possible – we must continue to play and avoid injuries. I’ve already talked to my coach and I want to change something in my off-season training,” said the Russian.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF), Vladislav Tretyak, spoke about Ovechkin’s pursuit of Gretzky’s record. He advised the forward to be calmer about the assault on the achievement.
During his NHL career, Ovechkin scored 853 goals in the regular season. The record for this indicator belongs to Gretzky, who scored 894 goals.
