“Actually, I believe that being a goalscorer is not something I had naturally in me, but let’s say I had the ability to become one. I know I have the ability, because I already did it in training. But in a match, it’s something different. Anyway, I managed to show my ability to score, I’m happy to do it this year. Now the challenge is to maintain that pace, but I will give everything until the end of the season and next year again”, he said.
The 24-year-old athlete was an important player in PSG’s qualification for the Champions League semi-finals. He scored two goals in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, one in the first leg and the other in the return, against Barcelona, which ended 6-4 on aggregate for the Parisian club.
“That goal was crazy, it gave the feeling that we could do it”, he reported about the goal in the first leg.
“Do you see my celebration? We see that the tension was extreme! I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. Because it was an important goal, at an important moment, because it is the goal that restores the advantage… This goal, if I could frame at my house… It’s a goal that will be remembered for me, for the club, and for the fans. It was incredible… That goal, I’ll never forget”, he said about his second goal of the match.
Vitinha also praised coach Luis Enrique and pointed to the coach as one of the reasons for his evolution.
“What he encourages me to do is incredible for me personally, because I’m doing things that I didn’t know I could do and that I can do really well. It’s incredible for me and for all the players to evolve like this. We’re better individually and collectively.”
Paris Saint-Germain takes to the field this Wednesday, at 4pm (Brasília time), against Borussia Dortmund, at Signal Iduna Park, in Germany, in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
