Former Corinthians and Flamengo player Vítor Pereira is elected best coach of the month in Saudi Arabia

This Monday, coach Vítor Pereira, with recent spells at Corinthians and Flamengo, was elected the best coach of the month of April in the Saudi Championship. He currently commands Al-Shabab.

In four games this month, the team won three and drew one. The most recent victory was against Al-Ittihad. Vítor Pereira’s team won 3-1, away from home.

The positive results took Al-Shabab to 38 points in the table. With this, the team appears in ninth place.

Vitor Pereira’s award was the eighth in a row given to Portuguese coaches in the Saudi Championship. Nuno Espírito Santo won in August last year (when he was at Al-Ittihad), Luís Castro (Al-Nassr) in September and Jorge Jesus (Al-Hilal) all the others until the Al-Shabab coach interrupted.

In 2022, Vítor Pereira led Corinthians to the Copa do Brasil decision, but left the team at the end of the year, citing family problems. At the beginning of 2023, the coach took over Flamengo and was fired a few months later, in April.

The Saudi team is the first that the Portuguese coached since leaving Brazil. He signed with Al-Shabab in February this year.
