Inter Milan beats Torino in first game after Italian title

Inter Milan, already champions of the Italian Championship, returned to play after the title was confirmed. This Sunday, the team beat Torino 2-0, at Giuseppe Meazza, in the 34th round of the competition. Çalhanoglu scored the winning goals for the home team.

The title came in the last round, when Inter defeated second-place Milan 2-1. Now, the team reaches 89 points, opening a 19-point lead over its rival. Furthermore, the team achieved its 28th victory in 34 games in the competition.

Torino reached their fourth consecutive game without winning. With four rounds remaining, the team occupies 10th place with 46 points achieved.

The champions return to the field next Saturday, when they face Sassuolo, in the Italian Championship. On Friday, Torino faces Bologna, in the same competition.

Inter Milan had no difficulty winning the match. The team knew how to impose itself in the first half, but found a well-positioned Torino side who managed to hold on to the draw until half-time.

The visitors’ situation became complicated four minutes into the second half, when midfielder Tameze was sent off the field. Six minutes later, Çalhanoglu received a pass on the left and hit a volley to score Inter’s first goal.

The Turkish midfielder, shortly after opening the scoring, scored the champions’ second goal. In the 15th minute, he converted a penalty kick and scored the goal that gave Inter their first victory after the Italian title.
