Girona beat Las Palmas 2-0 this Saturday, at the Gran Canaria Stadium, in the 33rd round of the Spanish Championship. David López and Dovbyk scored the goals of the visiting team’s triumph.
The victory puts Girona back in second place in Espanyol with 71 points. However, Barcelona is still playing in the round and could return to second place. The two teams will face each other in the next round.
Las Palmas no longer has many ambitions in this final stretch of the competition. The team occupies 13th place with 37 points and has a remote chance of relegation, as well as being unlikely to win a place in a European tournament next season.
The teams return to the field for the Spanish Championship next Saturday. While Girona faces the big duel against Barcelona, Las Palmas faces Real Sociedad.

Girona opened the scoring in the first half, in the 26th minute. Dovbyk, on a penalty kick, stopped by goalkeeper Valles, who gave David López the rebound to score the goal.
Las Palmas improved in the second half and took control of the ball. However, it was the visitors who found the net, once again from a penalty kick. This time, Dovbyk managed to beat the goalkeeper and extended Girona’s lead.
The home team continued to look for the first goal in the game, but Girona knew how to defend themselves and held on to the result.
