Ukrainian goalkeeper of Real Madrid Lunin wanted a salary increase to the level of Courtois

Ukrainian goalkeeper of Real Madrid Andrey Lunin wanted a salary increase in order to stay in the club. El Nacional reports this.

According to the source, Real plans to extend the contract with the goalkeeper, but use him as a reserve goalkeeper after the reinstatement of the two-time Spanish champion, Belgian Thibaut Courtois, to the team. Lunin demands that his salary be increased to Courtois’ level. It is noted that Madrid is not yet ready for such conditions.

Lunin became Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper in the summer of 2023 after Courtois tore his cruciate knee ligament in training. A month ago, the Belgian suffered another injury, damaging his meniscus. During this time, Los Blancos, with the Ukrainian at the goal, won the Spanish Super Cup and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Lunin moved to Real Madrid from Zorya Luhansk in the summer of 2018. At the same time, Courtois joined the team, so Lunin went on loan.
