Choreographer Zheleznyakov considered performing under a neutral flag a rejection of the country
Choreographer Alexei Zheleznyakov, who worked with figure skaters Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva, appreciated the performances under a neutral flag at the Olympic Games (OI). Metaratings.ru writes about this.
“You cannot compete under a neutral flag. Either you compete as a Russian, or you don’t compete at all. We have to wait until everything gets better,” Zheleznyakov said. In his opinion, if an athlete is ready to ride under a neutral flag, then it is better to renounce Russian citizenship, because the global goal of this is to humiliate the country and the entire people.
Zheleznyakov collaborated with Eteri Tutberidze throughout his career in Russia. In addition to Medvedeva and Zagitova, he worked with other titled students of the coach: Alexandra Trusova, Anna Shcherbakova and Kamila Valieva.
Previously, the choreographer explained his departure from Tutberidze. Zheleznyakov noted that he did not go anywhere. He admitted that due to his busy schedule he periodically missed Tutberidze’s training sessions, but did so with her permission.
