Courtois recovers and can reinforce Real Madrid in the final stretch of the season

Coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed this Thursday in a press conference that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has recovered and could reinforce Real Madrid next week. The Belgian has not taken to the field since last season due to knee injuries.

Ancelotti was asked who would play in goal in the next match and updated Courtois’ status. Real Madrid visits Real Sociedad this Friday, at 4pm (Brasília time), in the Spanish Championship.

“I have to think carefully about the lineup. There has been a lot of wear and tear. I have to think about things. Courtois is fine, I think he will be available next week. He can play against Cádiz,” he said.

Before the season started, the Belgian goalkeeper tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and only returned to training in March. However, upon his return to training, the athlete suffered a rupture of the internal meniscus in his right knee and had to miss Real Madrid for a few more weeks.

According to Ancelotti, the expectation is that he will be ready to face Cádiz, on May 4th, at 11:15 am (Brasília time), in the Spanish national league.
