This Thursday morning, coach Xavi Hernández confirmed in a press conference that he will remain at Barcelona until June 2025, the end date of his contract. The Spanish coach had stated in January this year that he would leave the club at the end of the season, but reversed his decision.

The 44-year-old commander revealed the reasons why he stayed at the Catalan club.
“You know that I’m a big fan of Barcelona. I always try to do the best for the club and the most important thing is to think about the entity. I had all the trust of the president, the board, the sporting director… The trust of the players, who believe that the project must continue, it was also very important for this decision. The fans also made me see that I must continue. These are the reasons for the change of decision”, he said.
This season, Barcelona was eliminated from the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and has a remote chance of winning the Spanish Championship. Despite this, Xavi believes that the club has evolved since his departure was announced and is confident in the continuity of the project.
“It was not a simple or easy decision. In January, I believed it was best for the club, but circumstances changed and now I think continuity is best. The project is not finished, I believe we can make it a winning project. In the last three months, everything has changed. It wasn’t a question of ego or money, it’s a question of the club,” he said.
In total, Xavi has 136 games in charge of Barça, winning 85, drawing 23 and losing 28. The coach won the Spanish Championship title and the Spanish Super Cup in 2023.
