Atalanta secured qualification for the Italian Cup final this Wednesday. Playing at home, the Bergamo team reversed Fiorentina’s advantage and won 4-1 in the second leg of the semi-final.
In the fight for the Italian Cup title, Atalanta will face Juventus on May 15th, at the Olympic Stadium. Before that, this Sunday, they host Empoli, in the Italian Championship. Fiorentina, as home team, faces Sassuolo, in the same tournament.
Defeated 1-0 in the first game, Atalanta opened the scoring in the 8th minute, when the Dutch Koopmeiners scored a beautiful cross shot. The home team also had a great goal from outside the area by Scamacca disallowed by VAR.
Fiorentina managed to equalize in the second half, with a corner kick headed by Argentine Lucas MartÃnez, in the 13th minute.
In the 30th minute, with a great volley from Scamacca, Atalanta regained the advantage. At 49, Nigerian Lookman finished a counterattack with a beautiful cross shot and left Atalanta in a position to qualify. Four minutes later, with a dig, Mario Pasalic closed the scoring.
