Tarasova: I didn’t think that the day would come when Irina Rodnina wouldn’t say hello
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova, in an interview with Nadezhda Strelets’ YouTube channel, said that she was surprised by the behavior of three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina.
“I don’t understand why she suddenly. I somehow never thought that the day would come when she wouldn’t say hello. Any guesses why this happens? I swear, no,” said Tarasova. She added that she did not need gratitude from Rodnina.
The conflict between Tarasova and Rodnina has been going on for several years. At the beginning of May 2021, the latter refused to consider the specialist as her coach. In response, Tarasova called the ex-skater a fool.
Rodnina, paired with Alexander Zaitsev, trained with Tarasova from 1974 to 1980. Under the guidance of their coach, they became two-time Olympic champions, as well as five-time world and European champions.
