Fedun called Spartak’s loss of footballer Promes arrested in the UAE stupid
Former owner of Moscow Spartak Leonid Fedun spoke about the arrest of club legionnaire Quincy Promes in the UAE. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
Fedun called it complete stupidity that the red and white lost the team’s most expensive and titled player. “Why did they take him to the UAE? For what? They knew that there was a criminal case,” he added.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, the football player was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
