This Sunday, after Barcelona’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Championship, Ronald Araújo took the opportunity to clarify the controversy with Gundogan and revealed that the German apologized.
“Everything is clear with Gundogan. I spoke to him and he apologized. Everything is fine now”, said the defender.

The controversy began after Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League against PSG, last Tuesday. When the match was still 1 for the Spanish clubs, Araújo stopped a promising Paris Saint-Germain attack with a foul and received a red card, 28 minutes into the first half.
With one more on the field, the French team grew in the game, turned the match to 4-1 and managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League. Barcelona only needed a draw at home to guarantee their place in the next stage of the competition, thanks to their victory in the first game.
After the match, Gundogan publicly criticized Araújo’s decision for committing the foul at that moment in the game. The Uruguayan defender responded to his teammate’s statements by saying that he preferred to keep his thoughts on the matter and demanded respect.
Barcelona returns to the field on Monday (29), at 4 pm (Brasília time), when they host Valencia, in the 33rd round of the Spanish Championship.
