Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-2 this Sunday, at the Santiago Bernabéu, in the 32nd round of the Spanish Championship. Coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the result and the team’s week, which advanced to the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday after eliminating Manchester City on penalties.
“It was a very hard-fought and competitive game against a strong rival who gave everything to try to open the championship again. We managed to deal with the situations well. Twice we needed to recover the game, we did, and in the last effort, with the last drop of energy we had we had this week, which will be unforgettable, we managed to score”, he said after the game to Real Madrid TV.

With the triumph, the Merengue club, leader of the competition, with 81 points, increased the advantage over the Catalan team, second placed, with 70, and got closer to winning LaLiga. Ancelotti analyzed Real Madrid’s title chances after the victory.
“Much closer. Next, we will have other games. Now, we need to rest well, because it was a very demanding, but unforgettable week,” he said.
Despite the advantage, the Italian coach highlighted the importance of the upcoming clashes.
“Obviously it’s a very important step that we’ve taken. We have a big advantage, but we can’t give up, we have to get more points and we have to prepare for the Champions League semi-final.”
Real Madrid returns to the field next Friday, at 4pm (Brasília time), when they face Real Sociedad, at the Anoeta Stadium, in the 33rd round of the Spanish Championship.
