The Australian Grace Brown (FDJ-SUEEZ) has conquered this Sunday the Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2024. Brown has taken the sprint victory after defeating the Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) at the finish line. The Dutch Demi Vollering (SD Works-Protime) was third.
The group formed by cyclists Elise Chabbey (Canyon-SRAM Racing), Grace Brown (FDJ-SUEZ), Kim Cadzow (EF Education-Cannondale), Eva van Agt (Visma-Lese a Bike), Lucinda Brant (Lidl-Trek) , Mikayla Harvey (UAE Team ADQ), Mischa Bredewold (SD Works-Protime), Flora Perkins (Fenix Deceuninck) and Sarha Gigante (AG Insurance-Soudal) have starred in the day trip.
With 30 kilometers to go before the finish line, the group broke up and the cyclists took the lead. Chabbey, brown and Cadzowe. But in the final kilometers, the peloton has accelerated the pace and has overwhelmed the trio that has been escaping.
On the climb to Roche-auxs-Faucons the peloton has also been reduced, Elisa Longo (Lidl-Trek) has pedaled hard, and only Demi Vollering (SD Works-Protime) and Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon) have been able to keep up with the Italian.
The sextet reached the last few meters together, and the winner decided to sprint. It seemed that Longo was going to win, but brown has taken the victory, surpassing the Italian over the finish line. Longo has been second, and Vollering has completed the podium, third. Chabbey has been fourth, Niewiadoma fifth and Cadzow sixth.
