Real Madrid captain Nacho considers leaving the club at the end of the season

The relationship between Nacho and Real Madrid may be nearing its end. According to the newspaper Brandfrom Spain, the player, who has played professionally for the club since 2011, reportedly informed Spanish officials of his intention to leave the club at the end of this season.

Last season, the 34-year-old athlete also showed a strong intention of putting an end to his time at Real Madrid. Nacho decided to stay given the great chance of winning more titles wearing the team captain’s armband.

A year later, history repeats itself, but now, according to Spanish media, he spoke directly with the club’s directors, including president Florentino Pérez, highlighting his thoughts of not continuing. Nacho has a contract valid until the end of this season (23/24), so several teams have shown interest in having the right-back play, like Inter Milan, for example.

The newspaper Brand still states that the idea of playing for another team in Spanish Championship doesn’t cross Nacho’s mind.

If the Merengues captain’s departure is confirmed, Real Madrid is already mapping the market for a possible replacement for Atelta. Lent Yoro, 18-year-old player from Lille, France, appears as one of those listed.

In total, playing for Real Madrid, Nacho has played 374 games, scoring 16 goals and distributing nine assists.

The team returns to the pitch, this Sunday, to face their rival Barcelona, for the 32nd round of the Spanish Championship. The ball rolls at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Santiago Bernabéu.
