This Thursday, midfielder Casemiro told some details about his departure from Real Madrid to Manchester United, in 2022. The Brazilian also revealed that Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti cried when he had confirmation of the transfer and, because of that, he came to doubt whether he would even leave the merengue club.

“I never told anyone this. I only hesitated once about leaving Madrid for Manchester United. It was a Friday afternoon and everything was fine. I had to go to training and I didn’t train, I just needed to sign. I went to talk to Ancelotti and he already knew I was leaving. I went into his office, and he was crying,” he said in an interview with El Chiringuito TV.
Casemiro also reported the dialogue he had with Ancelotti, when he saw that he was in tears.
“Why are you crying? Please don’t cry… Anyone but you’. He replied: ‘I don’t know why I’m crying, but I really like you and I don’t want you to leave’. That was the only moment when I was in doubt (whether I would go to United)”, he said.
“That’s when I realized how much people wanted me there (at Real Madrid). But I had already given my word (to United), and my word is more important than anything else,” he concluded.
At Real Madrid, Casemiro won several important titles and became one of the great names in the club’s history. In total, the midfielder won five Champions Leagues, was champion of the Spanish Championship, the World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup three times, in addition to having won a Copa del Rey.
