Czech football player Vychodil called on Hasek to return the money he earned in Russia
Former Czech football player Tomas Vychodil, who currently works as an academy coach and head of youth football development for Novosibirsk, called on Olympic champion and two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek to return the money he earned in Russia. His words are quoted by Match TV.
The ex-athlete felt that Hasek’s fight with the Russian players of the National Hockey League (NHL) was ugly. “My attitude towards him has changed for the worse,” he said.
On January 29, Hasek said that he would not return the funds received for playing in Spartak in the 2010/2011 season of the Kontinental Hockey League, because he deserved them with his work. According to him, at that time he considered Russia to be a fairly democratic state.
Since February 2022, Hasek has been actively promoting initiatives against Russian athletes. He called on NHL executives to resign because of their position on Russia. The Czech also refused to consider the NHL All-Star Game a holiday and called the presence of Russian hockey players at the event disgusting advertising.
