Russian forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning Nikita Kucherov became the top scorer of the 2023/24 regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
In addition, Kucherov won the Art Ross Trophy for the second time in his career. In 81 NHL championship games, he received 144 points, scored 44 goals and made 100 assists. The Russian took first place in the championship scorer standings.
The top three also included Canadian Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon (140 points in 82 games) and Canadian Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid (132 points in 76 games).
Kucherov became the first Russian in NHL history to make 100 assists in one regular season. In total, five players in the league were able to achieve this figure: Kucherov, Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Connor McDavid, who distinguished himself this season.
Kucherov has been playing for Tampa since 2013. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup twice.
