The NOC of Ukraine called on not to allow Russian judokas to participate in the European Championships
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine made a statement about the performance of Russian judokas at the 2024 European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. This is reported on the organization’s website.
In Ukraine, they called for not allowing athletes from Russia due to violation of the requirements of neutrality and support for the SVO. They demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) take action. We are talking about 15 judokas.
The return of Russian judokas to tournaments became known on April 29, 2023. The International Judo Federation (IJF) said it opposes discrimination in the sport.
After this, the Ukrainian national team boycotted the World Junior Championships because of the admission of Russians to it. The team stated that judo teaches you to respect your opponent and demonstrate this respect on the tatami, but in the current realities this is impossible.
