Coach Larionov: Torpedo got rid of toxic people during the season
Torpedo head coach Igor Larionov summed up the results of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) season for the Nizhny Novgorod club. A recording of the press conference is available on the team’s YouTube channel.
“We are taking a slightly different path than other clubs. We don’t buy players, we develop them. New names give hope that we are doing many things right,” Larionov said. He noted that the team had problems during the season, but managed to make adjustments and get rid of toxic people. In his opinion, this could have been done a little earlier.
This season, Torpedo managed to reach the KHL playoffs. In the 1/8 finals of the Gagarin Cup, Nizhny Novgorod played with SKA. The St. Petersburg club turned out to be stronger with a score of 4-1.
During the season, it was reported that Larionov had a conflict with defender Anton Sizov. The coach has been heading Torpedo since 2022.
