Russian forward of the Tampa Bay Lightning club Nikita Kucherov set a record in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported on the league website.
Kucherov became the first Russian in NHL history to make 100 assists in one regular season. It took him 81 matches to reach this mark. In total, five players in the NHL were able to achieve this figure: Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux and Connor McDavid, who also distinguished himself this season.
In addition, Kucherov strengthened his leadership in the scoring race, gaining 144 points. His closest pursuer is Canadian from Colorado Avalanche Nathan MacKinnon. He has 138 points.
Kucherov has been playing for Tampa since 2013. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup twice.
