Cavani is back in good form in Argentine football and is Boca Juniors’ top scorer this season

After a discouraging start, center forward Edinson Cavani adapted to South American football and became Boca Juniors’ top scorer this season. This Tuesday, the Uruguayan scored the winning goal for the Buenos Aires team over Godoy Cruz 1-0, at La Bombonera, in the Argentine Championship.

In 2024, Cavani played 12 games and scored eight times. According to data from the Sofascorethe striker has a goal every 97 minutes on the field.

The number 10’s aim is also a highlight. Of 19 attempted shots, 12 went towards goal (63%). Furthermore, the Uruguayan averages one goal every 2.3 shots.

Cavani arrived at Boca Juniors in the middle of last year and had a disappointing first season, scoring just three goals in 16 matches. However, the center forward improved in 2024 and became one of the club’s main players.

Boca Juniors returns to the field this Sunday in a derby against River Plate, at the Monumental de NΓΊΓ±ez Stadium, for the Argentine Championship.
