World Cup champion Romario announces resumption of career at 58
World champion in the Brazilian national football team Romario on his Instagram (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) announced the resumption of his professional career.
He announced that he had signed a player contract with Club America from Rio de Janeiro, of which he is president. “Ready to help my dear “America” in several matches, and also, of course, to realize my dream and share the field with my son,” wrote the 58-year-old Brazilian.
“America” plays in the second division of the Rio de Janeiro state championship. Romario’s son, 30-year-old forward Romarinho, recently joined the team.
Romario won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994, and he also won two America’s Cups with the national team. The player, known for his performances for PSV, Barcelona, Valencia and a number of Brazilian clubs, ended his career in 2008.
