This week, the decisive games of the quarter-finals of the Champions League will define the four semi-finalists of the competition. Depending on the results, new clubs can guarantee their place in the new Club World Cup in 2025.
This Tuesday, Barcelona hosts PSG. After winning 3-2 in the first leg, the Catalan club plays for a draw to advance. If Paris Saint-Germain turns the tie around and eliminates Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid is guaranteed the World Cup.
The only option for Xavi Hernández’s team to compete in the new club competition next year is to have a better campaign than Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League. If the two teams confirm their qualification to the semis, they will face each other for a place in the final and the World Cup.
Atlético de Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the first leg. At the moment, the Madrid team is ahead of Barcelona in the European rankings.

On the other side of the bracket, Arsenal visits Bayern Munich this Wednesday. The two clubs drew 2-2 in the first leg, in England. If the German club qualifies, RB Salzburg, from Austria, will have their passport stamped to compete in the World Cup.
The only chance for Arsenal to participate in the club tournament next year is to win the Champions League title in an unprecedented way.
Real Madrid and Manchester City also face each other for a place in the Champions League semi-final, but both teams are already confirmed in the Club World Cup.
