15-year-old Milana Stepanova won the Russian swimming championship
Milana Stepanova won the 2024 Russian swimming championship in Kazan in the 200-meter backstroke. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The 15-year-old athlete covered the distance in 2 minutes and 11.37 seconds. Renata Gainullina came second to the finish line, losing 0.35 seconds to the winner. Daria Zarubenkova closed the top three with a result of 2 minutes and 12.24 seconds.
The Russian Championship in Kazan takes place from April 14 to 19. Stepanova represents St. Petersburg at the competition.
On September 4, 2023, the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be able to take part in events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one swimmer. A maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
