Swimmer Chikunova said she received 1.25 million rubles for the world record
Russian swimmer Evgenia Chikunova revealed the amount of prize money for the world record in the 200-meter breaststroke. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
Chikunova stated that she received 1.25 million rubles for the world record, minus a tax of 13 percent. “But it remains quite normal, enough. Let’s just say I have money, I sleep peacefully,” she said. When asked how much money she needs per month, the athlete refused to answer.
Earlier, Chikunova announced her refusal to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “I’ll keep an eye on it. But I don’t see myself as a neutral athlete,” she clarified.
In April 2023, Chikunova set a new world record at the Russian Championships in Kazan. She swam the 200m breaststroke in 2 minutes and 17.55 seconds.
