Ronaldo suspended for two matches after being sent off in SA Super Cup match
Al Nassar’s Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo will be suspended after being sent off in a Saudi Arabian Super Cup (SA) match. Asharq Al-Awsat reports this.
According to the source, the disciplinary committee of the Saudi Football Federation was studying the explanations of the forward, who considered the red card undeserved. As a result, a decision was made to disqualify Ronaldo for two matches.
On the night of April 9, Ronaldo received a straight red card in the SA Super Cup semi-final match with Al-Hilal (1:2). The forward was sent off in the 86th minute for unsportsmanlike conduct. He tried to quickly bring the ball out of touch and elbowed the opposing player Ali Al-Bulayhi in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground. Leaving the court, Ronaldo swung his fist at the referee, but lowered his hand.
Ronaldo moved to Al-Nasr on December 30, 2022. The 39-year-old forward’s contract is valid for two years.
