For the ninth round of MLS, Lionel Messi’s team returns to the pitch next Saturday (20), to face Nashville, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), at Chase Stadium. Sporting Kansas City, on the same day, at 9:30 pm, hosts St. Louis City, at Children’s Mercy Park.
The goals
In the 6th minute, it was Sporting Kansas City who opened the scoring. Erik Thommy received it from Tim Leibold and, from outside the area, finished in the right corner of goalkeeper Callender.
Inter Miami tied at 18 minutes, still in the first half. Lionel Messi made a deep pass to Diego Gómez, at the edge of the area. The Paraguayan shot low, first time, to fill the net.
The Florida team’s comeback came from Messi’s feet, 6 minutes into the second half. To do so, the Argentine received the ball from Diego Gómez and sent a rocket, from outside the area, into Melia’s left corner, with no chance for the Kansas team’s archer.
However, seven minutes later, at 13, the home team equalized the score, with Erik Thommy, again. The player took advantage of the fact that Inter Miami’s defense poorly cleared a cross into the area and, free from marking, shot hard with his right foot. Before dying in the back of the goal, the ball still hit the left post of the goal defended by Callender.
To close the account, in the 26th minute, Luis Suárez scored the goal that gave Inter Miami the three points. Diego Gómez, scorer of one of the goals and an assist, once again participated in a decisive play. The Paraguayan crossed low and Luis Suárez appeared at the far post to push the ball into the back of the ropes.
