Coman’s injury worries Bayern for Arsenal game

Bayer Leverkusen will have to wait until at least Sunday. Bayern Munich (2nd) did its part by defeat this Saturday (13) Cologne 2-0, in the 29th round of the Bundesliga, thus preventing Leverkusen from winning the title at least until Sunday’s match, against Werder Bremen.

Against Cologne (17th and in the relegation zone), Thomas Tuchel made seven changes compared to the game in London against Arsenal on Tuesday (2-2), the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, saving the goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala, among others.

Four days before the second leg against the Gunners, Bayern’s French striker Kingsley Coman had to be replaced due to an injury.

“He will undergo further tests, but he doesn’t look good,” explained Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund in the mixed zone.

“The big disappointment is the injury to Kingsley, who returned to play after a long period of absence”, lamented Tuchel about the Frenchman, two months away from the European Championship (14 June to 14 July). The club, in turn, released a statement specifying the muscular nature of the injury and estimated the time off at “several weeks”.

With five rounds left until the conclusion of the German Championship, Bayern Munich is 13 points behind the undefeated leader, Leverkusen led by Spanish coach Xabi Alonso (63 against 76), who needs to beat Werder Bremen on Sunday, at their BayArena, to guarantee mathematically their first Bundesliga title.

Stuttgart, owned by Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy (25 goals in the championship), has the same points as Bayern.
