Fenerbahce was fined this Thursday (11) after its players left the field on Sunday, in the first moments of the Turkish Super Cup, to denounce alleged injustices committed against their club, announced the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
The Istanbul team decided, for the same reason, to select eleven youngsters from their under-19 team for this game against their arch-rivals, Galatasaray.
After conceding a goal in the first minute of the game, the players returned to the dressing room, ending the match.
The TFF, which declared Galatasaray the winner 3-0, fined Fenerbahce 115 thousand euros (around R$628 thousand at the current price) for this “abandonment”.
“It’s time for the clocks in Turkish football to be reset,” declared Fenerbahce president Ali Koç before kick-off, agreeing to boycott the match.

Stating that many league titles “escaped” Fenerbahce in a dubious way, Koç denounced the existence of a “hidden network in Turkish football” which, according to him, “decides the course of the championship through the referees”.
Before the match, Fenerbahce demanded that a foreign referee referee the Super Cup, and also requested its postponement due to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League, which they will play on Thursday night against Olympiakos, two demands that the TFF rejected.
