With 0-0 against Real Tomayapo, in the South American Championship, Internacional reached their fourth draw in a row, including an elimination on penalties in the Campeonato Gaúcho. In a press conference after last Wednesday’s game, coach Eduardo Coudet was asked about a “tactical mess” by the team, but disagreed with the analysis.
“When we win by playing well, they always say that we played naturally, they comment on our tactical part, but when it doesn’t work they say that tactically everything is a mess”, he said.
“We always talk about tactics when we lose, when we lose they talk about a tactical mess. We had 20 chances to score, there is an explanation. It’s not like that what you talk about. Would it be a tactical mess if we had scored three today? It’s not a If we win, the important thing is to win”, he added.
Despite denying the tactical mess, Coudet admitted that the team did not do well in the first half and that they need to improve offensively.
“I didn’t like our first half. It’s a South American game, it’s always difficult to play in a continental competition”, he said.
“We have to work to be successful, convert the chances, in the last games we only scored four goals, the defensive part didn’t even have to work today. Let’s work to score goals.”, he concluded.
Internacional will now focus on the debut of the 2024 Brazilian Championship. Colorado will debut on Saturday, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), against Bahia, in Beira-Rio.
