Teryushkov proposed banning agents in sports: they are parasitic on the country
Roman Teryushkov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, proposed banning the work of agents. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Agents are an anachronism that is not needed in the 21st century. They parasitize the clubs and the country. We raise players, and they send them abroad, receive money without investing a penny themselves,” he said. The deputy believed that football clubs can do without intermediaries when transferring players.
Deputy General Director of the Russian Hockey Federation Alexander Kiknadze opposed this proposal. He explained that a complete ban on agents would do more harm than good to athletes.
Deputy Secretary General of the Russian Football Union Denis Rogachev noted that it is important to apply sanctions to those who interact with unaccredited agents. The head of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, Dmitry Svishchev, proposed creating a working group and, together with clubs, leagues and federations, resolving this issue.
Earlier, the State Duma called for a ban on pop MMA. Deputy Sultan Khamzaev called this sport a stupid and socially dangerous phenomenon.
