Irina Rodnina said that the IOC is playing a triple game and violating its rules
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of playing a triple game. Her words are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
Rodnina said that the entire history of the Olympic movement consists of confrontations and boycotts. “Today the situation has worsened, in my opinion, for the simple reason that the IOC itself is no longer playing a double, but even a triple game – they themselves are violating their own rules and regulations. Absolute unscrupulousness can be seen in all their actions,” she noted.
Earlier, IOC head Thomas Bach spoke about the creation of a special commission that monitors the statements of Russian athletes in the media and on the Internet. The Ukrainian side is also involved in this work.
In December 2023, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
