Journalist Karpov said that Spartak decided to fire head coach Abaskal
The Moscow football club Spartak will fire head coach Guillermo Abascal. Journalist Ivan Karpov reports this on Telegram.
As the source learned, the decision was made by the club’s management and will not depend on the results of the derby with Dynamo. Karpov said the Spaniard’s dismissal should be announced next week.
At the beginning of March, information appeared about the upcoming change of the red-and-white coach, but Abascal continued to work at the club. Then, former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov was named as one of the contenders for the post.
Abaskal will head Spartak in the summer of 2022. In the 2022/2023 season, the team led by the Spaniard became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship. After 22 rounds of the current national championship, the club is in seventh position.
