Van der Poel wins his second consecutive victory in Paris-Roubaix

The Dutch Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin Deceuninck) has won the 121st edition of the Paris-Roubaix, held through 259.7 kilometers between Compiègne and the Roubaix velodrome.
Triplet in Flanders, double in Roubaix, at 29 years oldthe cyclist from Kapellen has achieved his sixth “monument” in the “classic of classics” faithful to a devastating style that makes him a only cyclist in the world peloton.
On this occasion, the “Hell of the North” has been a paradise for the world champion, who has attacked on the cobblestone stretch of Orches, 60 km from the finish line, to ride alone to victory.
Van der Poel has set a time of 5:26:01, and an average of 47.8 km/hour. His pursuers have finished the day at 2:57 minuteswith the Belgian Jasper Philipsen second doing double for Alpecin. Third was the Danish Mads Pedersen (Lidl) and fourth the German Nils Politt (UAE).
Van der Poel shines in his record 49 wins, and, among others, in classic vintages three Flanders, two Roubaix, one San Remo, one Amstel and one Strade Bianche. Today is the third of the year, and now he heads to Amstel and Liège Bastogne.
