Loaned to Barcelona, João Cancelo is not expected to return to Manchester City at the end of the season. The English club does not intend to loan the full-back again and may consider selling the player permanently.
Manchester City set a value of between R$220 and 270 million to sell Cancelo, according to Spanish newspaper Relevo. This amount is lower than what was paid by the English team to have the player in 2019, but the club understands that it will be difficult to recover this investment through a sale.
Also according to the newspaper, Barcelona and Bayern Munich appear as clubs interested in counting on João Cancelo’s football.

Barcelona would be interested in keeping the player in their squad for next season and would be willing to offer around R$160 million to Manchester City.
Cancelo is on loan to the Catalan club until the end of the season and has already played 33 games, scored four goals and provided four assists. That was enough to convince the Catalan club to want to buy the Portuguese.
The other interested party, Bayern Munich, had the chance to buy the athlete at the end of last season. Cancelo spent six months on loan at the German club after he left Manchester City in January 2023.
With this, Bayern could have activated its purchase option to have the player permanently, but considered the value of R$410 million too high. In Germany, Cancelo made 21 appearances and helped the club win the German Championship.
