Peskov said that the Kremlin will be proud of Russian tennis players at the Olympic Games
Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov revealed his attitude towards Russian tennis players who want to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We will rejoice at the victories of our athletes, including tennis players, who defend our flag with honor, even when they compete without one. For us, they are still Russian tennis players of whom we are proud,” Peskov said.
He recalled that Russian athletes must make their own decisions about traveling to the Games. In addition, Peskov drew attention to the absence of the IOC requirement for Russians to sign any documents.
Earlier on April 5, the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Irina Viner, considered that Russians performing at the Games should not have citizenship of the country. On the same day, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov called Russian tennis players wishing to compete at the Games a team of foreign agents.
