Javier Bordas, former sporting director at Barcelona, revealed that Barça’s attack could be formed by Mbappé and Haaland. According to the director, the Spanish club had the money to buy the French star after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, but chose to sign Dembelé, who was standing out for Borussia Dortmund.
“If he had ordered it, Mbappé would have come to Barcelona. When they paid €222 million for Neymar [em 2017], we had the money to sign him, but the management preferred Dembélé. I opted for Mbappé, I spoke to his father, he would have come to Barcelona”, he said in an interview with the program The beach bar.
Now, Barcelona can see Mbappé reinforce their biggest rival, Real Madrid. According to the European press, upon finalizing his contract with PSG at the end of this season, the French national team’s number 10 will join the Merengue club for free.
Before that, Barcelona will face Mbappé, with PSG, in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The first leg is scheduled for next Wednesday, at 4pm (Brasília time).

Regarding Haaland, Javier Bordas said that he had reached a value agreement with RB Salzburg and Mino Raiola, his former manager. However, due to having Uruguayan Luis Suárez in the squad, negotiations did not progress.
“Haaland wanted to come to Spain. It would have cost us €20 million for RB Salzburg and another €20 million for Mino Raiola. He had already exploded. There were talks. There was Suárez [no elenco] and decided not to hire him”, he said.
After not being signed by Barcelona, Haaland transferred to Borussia Dortmund and, two seasons later, was signed by Manchester City, where he was the highlight of the English team’s unprecedented Champions League title.
