Fécafoot regrets not having been associated “neither closely nor remotely with the candidate pre-selection process” for the position of new coach of the ‘Indomitable Lions’. The entity considers that the situation conflicts with the sports management of the national teams, which is the responsibility of Fécafoot.
The Cameroonian Federation claims to have received no response and expressed its “great surprise” at this “unilateral” decision.
Announced on Tuesday in a statement from the Ministry of Sportsnew coach Marc Brys, 61, replaces Rigobert Song, whose contract expired at the end of February and was not renewed by Eto’o.
Cameroon was eliminated in the round of 16 of the last African Cup, in January, against Nigeria. The new coach’s first mission will be to classify the ‘Indomitable Lions’ for the next edition of CAN, in 2025, and for the 2026 World Cup.
