Wrestler Sadulayev was not allowed to participate in the licensed Olympic tournament by decision of the IOC
Two-time Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Abdulrashid Sadulaev, by decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), was not allowed to participate in the licensed tournament for the 2024 Games in Paris. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), writes TASS.
“After another pseudo-check, the International Olympic Committee published new lists of those not allowed to participate in international competitions. Unfortunately, they included the two-time Olympic winner, captain of our team, Abdulrashid Sadulaev,” the message says.
The licensed tournament will be held from April 5 to 7 in Baku. To win licenses, wrestlers will need to reach the finals. The Federation noted that if Sadulayev comes to Baku, he will not be allowed to compete, since he has a ban from the IOC. It is noted that Alikhan Zhabrailov will perform in Baku.
At the moment, all Russian wrestlers face a clear task – to get tickets to the Olympic Games on a sporting basis, the FSBR summarized.
Previously, the Russian record-breaking swimmer refused to participate in the Olympics. The athlete stated that she did not want to participate in competitions in a neutral status.
