Corinthians will receive a good amount of money for the definitive purchase of left-back Carlos Augusto by Inter Milan. Timão is entitled to 60% of the capital gain from a future sale of the player by Monza, who bought the former athlete from the club. São Jorge Park.
In the middle of last year, Monza loaned Carlos Augusto to Inter Milan for 4.5 million euros (around R$24.5 million at the time). The operation included an obligation to purchase clause of 7.5 million euros if the Italian team guaranteed a place in the next Champions League, which happened last weekend.
Timão is entitled to 60% surplus value, which is nothing more than the difference in the amount paid by Inter Milan compared to what Monza paid to buy the Corinthians full-back.
The difference is 3.5 million euros, therefore, the amount to be received by Corinthians is 2.1 million euros (around R$11.4 million).
In addition to the amount of R$1.4 million, Corinthians will receive 3.5% of the total value of the transaction due to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, as Carlos Augusto was trained at the club. The value is around 455 thousand euros (R$ 2.4 million).
Carlos Augusto defended the Corinthians professional from 2018 to 2020, with 41 games in total (35 as a starter). With Timão, the player won the 2017 São Paulo Junior Football Cup and the 2019 Campeonato Paulista.
A standout in Italian football, the left-back was called up by the Brazilian team for four games in the South American Qualifiers, in 2023.
