Valery Karpin: it is unknown whether I will remain as head coach of the Russian national team
Head coach of the Russian national football team Valery Karpin answered a question about his future in office. He spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!”
“It is still unknown whether I will remain in the national team or not. “In Rostov, yes, I have a contract,” said the coach. He added that something could happen that would change the situation.
Karpin’s contract with the Russian Football Union (RFU) expires in August this year. He has been leading the team since the summer of 2021, combining the positions of coach in the national team and Rostov.
Russian clubs and national teams have not taken part in international tournaments since February 2022 by decision of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the finals of the World and European Championships.
