River Plate beats Deportivo Táchira away from home in their Libertadores debut

This Tuesday, at the Polideportivo Stadium in Pueblo Nuevo, the River Plate debuted with victory in Libertadores. The Argentines, away from home, beat Deportivo Táchira, from Venezuela, by a score of 2-0. The two goals were scored only in the second half.

With the triumph, River Plate takes the lead in Group H. Deportivo Táchira, in turn, is at the bottom, with no points and a negative balance of two goals. For this group, this Wednesday, Libertad, from Paraguay, and Nacional, from Uruguay, will still duel in the round.

River Plate returns to the pitch, this Sunday, to face Rosario Central, at 9pm (Brasília time), in the Argentine League Cup, at Monumental de Núñez. Deportivo Táchira, this Friday, faces Universidad Central, at the Estádio Olímpico de la UCV, at 5pm, in the 11th round of the Venezuelan Championship.

River Plate opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the second half. Gonzales Pirez received the ball in the right sector of the attack and crossed into the area. Sebastián Boselli controlled poorly, but the home team’s defender, when he was clearing the ball, ended up kicking the Argentine player in the head. The ball thus ended up in the back of the net.

The Argentines expanded in the 34th minute, with a great goal. After Gonzales Pirez headed, the ball fell cleanly to Nicolás Fonseca, who, from far outside the area, managed to hit a rocket with the instep of his foot, covering the Venezuelan team’s goalkeeper.
