Tennis player Kasatkina: I will be happy to perform at the Olympics if I qualify
Russia’s first racket Daria Kasatkina answered a question about participation in the 2024 Olympic Games. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
The tennis player said that she was very glad that Russians were allowed to participate in the tournament and would be happy to perform at it. Kasatkina called the Games a very important event for her. “It so happened that I didn’t go to the last Olympics in Tokyo for a number of reasons. But I want to play in Paris. If I qualify for it, I will perform without any questions,” she said.
Earlier, Andrei Rublev and Daniil Medvedev announced their desire to take part in the Olympic Games. The tennis players emphasized that they are ready to perform in Paris if their health allows.
In December 2023, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support the SVO, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
